AMAC's Fortnightly Five with Radio Ashford's Samantha Griffin

For our next Fortnightly Five we caught up with the amazing and inspirational Sam Griffin. Not only is she one of Radio Ashford's presenters, she is a friend of AMAC, a musician, promoter, event organiser and avid supporter of local music and the arts.

1. Tell us a little about what you do and how you got started?

I am a Radio Presenter on Radio Ashford. I have been presenting on the platform since 2018, which started by co-hosting the Weekend Breakfast show with Phill Thorne on a Saturday morning. I am also a Director for Beat The Drum Promotions supporting band, musicians and organising events. Original Local and New music is something that I am passionate about, playing tracks on my show and host Original Showcases at The Booking Hall in Dover. I also have my 'In Conversation With' series on my Youtube channel, chatting to Musicians and figures from the music industry.

2. Any influences or role models you can share with us?

Other than local legend Phill Thorne who is my radio Yoda, I have huge respect for Annie Mac and Jo Whiley who optimize the role as a female Radio Presenters.

3. What’s your greatest or proudest achievement to date?

My 2 boys are my greatest achievement, I think being offered the Daytime slot on Radio Ashford has to be my proudest achievement.

4. Tell us an interesting fact about yourself or funny story about yourself

I applied to be on a Queen Video but was pipped to the post by a boy! I have always wanted to front a Queen Tribute band...being a female Freddie Mercury would be awesome right?

5. How can people find out more about what you do?

You can find me on the airwaves weekdays 10am-2pm on 107.1fm or around the world at Check us out on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @radioashford
